WINGS
We've documented our building experience by chapter from the RV-10 Builder Plans. We ordered the wings as a quick build kit, therefore, you will find that some chapters will have no entries for our work as that section was completed by Vans under the quick build kit. For builders out there...a word of caution. Van's plans are the same for quick build or slow build options. Its up to the builder to identify which actions within each section were completed by Van's under the quick build option.
The delivery of the Quick Build Wings arrived in 12 Feb 2008. Tony Partain came through one day early which was a blessing due to another winter stormheading our way. The quick build kits (wings, fuselage, and finish ) arrived in good condition and inventory is still in progress. Here are some pictures to give everyone feel for the chaos that has erupted in our section of the hangar. The good news is that apparently the FBO has decided it can be warmer in the hangar so we can work in better temperatures than we have been.
Some thoughts: We used plans we found on the internet from another builder to form the wing cradle which would be their home til the fall of 2008 when they were mated to the fuselage. The wing dolly saved time and probably an expensive accident. For the low cost of the materials we highly recommend building these before PTC arrives. Your space use needs to be well thought out. We thought a lot about this and still did not avoid the chaos of the new parts. We decided to purchase all the remaining kits to save on shipping the counter to this is the space used in storage from now on.
