Instrument Panel
Its pretty important to have a plan before you install the hood. The avionics that are deep will require a cutout of the sub-panel to allow for its installation. Determining this and making the cut is much easier before installation of the hood, than after. We thought we had a good plan for the panel and where we would need to make the cut in the sub-panel after much discussion with avionics venders and pouring through their diagrams. We shifted gears much later on the panel design that required us to carve out a piece of the sub-panel under the middle support. The original cutout was expanded to accommodate the new avionics set up and the original cutout provided a nice entry to the back of the middle stack of avionics.
